Pleasanton is a wonderful bedroom community with terrific weather, spectacular recreation features and is located a short drive away from San Francisco, San Jose the Central Valley and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Pleasanton was at one time a small main street town that has grown because of it’s mild climate, affordable housing and terrific schools. The town is still small town America with a main street parade and farmer’s market yet it has attracted many large businesses in the last 20 years. Local companies such as Sybase, Oracle, Safeway Stores, Polycom and many others have chosen Pleasanton as their home.
The town is vibrant with culture. There are many small boutique shops along main street along with fine dining, elegant hotels and local business merchants.
The town has approximately 65,000 residents but it has a feel of a small town. Neighbors wave at one another as they stroll through town in the evening. Pleasanton is home of the Alameda County Fairgrounds where livestock has been traded since the mid 1800’s. Those days are over for Pleasanton but the heritage lives on. There is a rich history in old Pleasanton. A prominent location called Castlewood Country Club was once the residence of Phoebe Hearst, now the home to a sprawling Country Club with 36 holes of golf on the hillside and valley floor. Calipe Golf course is a newer golf course open to the public on the south side of town and Pleasanton Fairgrounds golf inside the horse racing track at the Fairgrounds. Sports parks, tennis courts, recreation areas, parks, theaters and outdoor music is abundant in Pleasanton.
Pleasanton Schools are rated at the highest level in the state alongside the San Ramon Unified School District. This is one of the main attractions to the area for young families today looking for homes. Property values remain strong in Pleasanton because of the terrific education opportunities. Colleges and Universities are close to Pleasanton. Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley, Cal State of the East Bay, Chabot College, Saint Mary’s College, Ohlone College, are but to name a few of the nearby colleges for aspiring students and adults seeking higher education.
Pleasanton is a wonderful place to live and work. Summers are warm and outdoor play can be well into the evening. The people of Pleasanton are vibrant. There is always something going on here. The town is filled with bicycle riders, joggers, tennis players, golf, hiking and many other active sports.
